Message from the President

Welcome to the South African Principal's Association KwaZulu Natal (SAPA KZN) website. The site contains a myriad of papers, reports of meetings, photographic records and useful resources for Principals in South African schools.
SAPA KZN is growing in leaps and bounds. As the Principals’ organisation for Principals across KZN, its membership continues to flourish, with large numbers of membership applications being received annually. SAPA KZN is a member of SAPA (National) and through it the International Confederation of Principals (ICP) and its related Associations from 35 countries across the globe.
The work of SAPA is now multi-faceted and complex. It ranges from professional learning for school leaders through the annual provincial and national conferences and workshops, through Principals Leading Principals (PLP) - a concept being mooted to deliver training programmess on a needs basis, and through SAPA's other projects.
ICP has built a series of strong partnerships with organizations as diverse as the OECD, the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust, the Wisdom Trust, ICSEI (International Congress for School Improvement and Effectiveness), ESHA (the European School Heads Association) and Intercamhs (the International Alliance of Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Schools. Our membership of ICP gives us at SAPA KZN access to these links.
These partnerships provide significant opportunities for us to access the very latest in educational research and thinking.
SAPA KZN has been organized into various branches, some of whom are in their infancy. These branches will provide a structure for SAPA to focus on activities specifically relevant to specific schools and to their needs.
There is much to be done in cooperation with all stakeholders to ensure that every young person in school education across our province and country is given the very best opportunities possible in their crucial formative years in schooling.
I encourage you as a school leader to become acquainted with our activities and to consider involvement. SAPA KZN is a powerful voice for school leaders. It can only gain in influence through increased diversity of membership and through diverse viewpoints and relationships.
 Thank you.
Thembi Ndlovu
SAPA KZN President 2009/2010
